FIRST-TO-FILE RULE

If two or more design applications for the same or a similar design are filed on different dates, only the first applicant may 
obtain the design registration.

NECESSARY DOCUMENTS

The following information and documents are required for filing a design application in the Republic of Korea:

(ⅰ) Name(s), address(es) and nationality of the applicant and inventor(s)
(ⅱ) Drawings or photos of six directional views and a perspective view of the design
(ⅲ) Original copy of the power of attorney document executed by the applicant or the representative if the applicant is a legal 
      entity 
(ⅳ) A certified copy of the priority document (if claimed)

PRIORITY DOCUMENTS

A certified copy of priority document(s) and a Korean translation(s) thereof must be submitted within three (3) months after
the filing date of the design application.

REQUEST FOR LAID OPEN PUBLICATION

A design applicant may request that its application be laid open to the public as prescribed in the law. When the application is
laid open, the applicant may warn a person who works the applicant's design in commerce, and may file a lawsuit to seek 
compensation for damages caused by the person's working upon registering its design.
